The heat or cold stays in the room instead of going up and out the roof.

Use a toaster oven instead of the large stove, toaster ovens use much less energy.

If you are not sure about doing each upgrade, start off with changing the light bulbs. Then buy the energy saving appliances. Take each step as you can afford it, and before you know it your whole house will be eco friendly.
